'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting final moments of his team's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses amid the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range strike from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess promptly hammered in the loose ball before charging toward the crowd to celebrate, with supporters swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory completed an extraordinary comeback given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the second half. Amid the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan shouting out and we were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result booked a fourth-round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for having a go from that range," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right defensive wing after they changed formation. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way Orient played positively.

City's Quality

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they are adept at manage and neutralize a game. You can think you're doing well and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It takes a tough attitude and concentration just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in south Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a spell at lower division Salford, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without serious challenge. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

He has shown that growth for club and country, excelling for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including home and away games against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

This marks an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his father, his father, also a midfielder, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's single match for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they played on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was shut owing to conditions of bitter cold. "It was a extended travel and it was cold out there," he recalls, grinning. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "It was relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I realized I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it reached a stage where I thought I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

Life in Swansea

It is mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a minibus driven by club employees, the drivers, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to spend time with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the next one out of the minibus and driving. Franco is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on the Tube after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
